Belief Change 101

Do you suffer from a habit or a behavior or a repetitive thought pattern that keeps you from being who you want to be? Do you try to change this or that aspect of your life, but wind up right back where you started? You're not alone! Millions of Americans try to make changes, but the whopping majority fail exceptionally!

What if I told you the dirty little secret of human change? What if there was an invisible factor, one that always ensures you revert back to the person you were before?

It's simple really...

The reason you don't change for long is because you have a set of beliefs that support the person you are, not the person you want to be. In order to be the person you want to be, you've got to tweak your belief system!

Now you can create what you've always wanted! Be the person you wish you were!

In life, love, and business, we're often held back by our own limiting ideas about the world. We often fail again and again because out beliefs are written to be the kind of person we are, not the kind of person we want to be. Most people want to change something in their lives, but almost all of them don't know how to do that effectively. They grope blindly in the dark for the answers they need or settle to just get by. Now, you can create your own map that leads to the specific change that you want.

Lose weight. Make more money. Stop smoking. Meet women, meet men. Have more free time. Personal empowerment starts here!

The engine for all behaviors, thoughts, and feelings is your belief. What you believe about the world, the people, places, and situations in which you find yourself will determine the world you live in. Guaranteed!

Introducing...
Belief Change 101
A Buddhist monk, a cowboy, and the President walk into a bar. The Buddhist monk sees many facets of the One soul experiencing the pleasure of inebriation. The cowboys sees an opportunity to enjoy himself. And the President sees vulnerable voters. They may walk into the same physical space, but they see and experience three different scenes. Why?

Because they have different beliefs about the world and the people and events in that world.

Our belief system is primarily inherited from our parents, and we could all be very thankful for what it is they've given to us, because it has helped us to survive. And no matter where you are in your life, no matter how high or how low, you can at least be thankful for your beating heart. After our parents, the school system, friends, and television continue to influence us in powerful ways. Aside from the odd rite-of-passage, like becoming a parent or getting married or getting divorced, our belief systems don't change very much after we've grown up. They stay rigid and firm, even if they no longer serve us. It's up to us as conscious individuals to change them or suffer the fate of a life lived with outdated beliefs.

John can go through his life believing he is not worthy of love, and he'll hold onto that belief even though he's lonely and miserable, even though believing he's not worthy of love will be the one thing that keeps him from accepting that abundance of love in the world.

Perhaps you may remember now, something that you've wanted to change in your life, some habit or some thought, some behavior that you've wanted to change, but try as you might, you always revert back to your 'normal.' You do this because at a fundamental level, you believe that thing you want to change is necessary. Lessons

  1. The world is made of beliefs. Everything you see, hear, touch, taste, and feel is created from or interpreted by beliefs. Some of them are unique to you, but the majority originate from your environment.
  2. GETTING TO KNOW THE OTHER YOU

The mind generalizes and that's a helpful thing. Otherwise, you'd have to re-learn how to use a toilet every time you needed it, but only after re-learning where the bathroom was and what it was for.
  3. RELATIVITY IS THE WAY FORWARD

In the world of belief, there are no right answers. Everything you experience is subject to your perspective, background, and personal history.
  4. WHAT MAKES A BELIEF?

Although it's hard to be precise when talking in such broad generalizations, most beliefs share some common elements, and it can be useful to know more about how mind and belief work so that you may be more successful as you make changes in your own mind.
  5. THE ORIGIN OF YOUR BELIEFS

As I said earlier, our parents, usually unknowingly, give us our most fundamental beliefs. I'm not saying that so we can blame them for the hardships in our life, but rather so we can empower ourselves to change the things we want to change. Responsibility is key.
  6. BELIEF AS SPIRAL GENERATOR

Now, let's go back to the example: the world is a dangerous place. I've illustrated how this belief could, potentially, propagate a downward spiral, leaving the believer in an increasingly dangerous world, tormented by darker and darker thoughts, and acting both more defensive and more aggressive to protect himself from this danger.
  7. LANGUAGE

Human beings are linguistic creatures. The ability to communicate about our internal and external worlds in sophisticated ways is one of the major differences separating us from the animal kingdom.
  8. REACHING INTO THE SUBCONSCIOUS
